I got this nice bass I couple of weeks ago, I love it, but then again I'm a gear whore  so I'll put this one for trade or sale, SPECS:

Custom Neck-Through Bass Prototype by John Watkins

This guitar was hand built by John Watkins as a prototype for a new model.

Materials: The body is a 7-piece laminate of Flame Makore, Maple, Wenge, and Cherry.

The neck is a 9-piece laminate of the same.

The pickup cover and cavity cover are also of these woods and made to match there

The fingerboard is Gaboon Ebony with Makore fret-markers.

The headstock cap is also Makore.

The truss rod cover is Gaboon Ebony, as is the bridge.

The bridge is hand-made and is also a prototype new to this model, but the space could
accomodate a conventional bridge. It is adjustable for both action and intonation.

The single pickup is a EMG 40DC connected to an EMG BTS sytem. The system can run on either 9v or 18v.

The controls are volume, bass, and treble.

The neck has a Hot Rod dual-action truss rod and two Carbon-Fiber reinforcement rods.

Though this protoype is one-of-a-kind, John is accepting orders for this model. Current delivery
time is about 6 months on new orders.

The retail price is $2695 (without the upgrades) I emailed mister John Watkins asking the price of the bass and this is what I got:
    Bass price: $2,695
    Makore top: $135
    Makore back: $135
    Pup covers:
    Ebony $100
    Matching $150
    Custom Bridge: $250
I'm interested in a good 4, 5 or 6 strings bass with wide string spacing, I love this bass and I won't mind if I don't trade it, I just want to try something new, only reasonable offers will be considered, feel free to mail or PM any queestions, thanks for looking.

Danny, she's beautiful, gorgeous woods on that there bass. But I must say that bridge is fugly! no matter, function over form. Sorry, no offer (don't have anything worthy, except maybe my car), but good luck!

Actually I love the bridge, you can adjust the string spacing and the action, I have the action set super low and there isn't any fretbuzz at all, what kind of car do you have? :D

  14. Guru,
I guess you've changed your mind? That's good. The Watkins is worth twice as much. Bring it to a good guitar show and watch the people go nuts over it. Good luck.

I'll have to wait 'till Jan. to bring it to the NAMM show, but I don't know, I think I'll keep the bass if I don't trade it soon, I want a trade it for a good 5 or 6 stringer 'cause I need the low B and D. ;) :)
