    Check this out:

Custom Neck-Through Bass Prototype by John Watkins

This guitar was hand built by John Watkins as a prototype for a new model. www.watkinsguitars.com

Materials: The body is a 7-piece laminate of Flame Makore, Maple, Wenge, and Cherry.

The neck is a 9-piece laminate of the same.

The pickup cover and cavity cover are also of these woods and made to match there
    surroundings.

The fingerboard is Gaboon Ebony with Makore fret-markers.

The headstock cap is also Makore.

The truss rod cover is Gaboon Ebony, as is the bridge.

The bridge is hand-made and is also a prototype new to this model, but the space could
accomodate a conventional bridge. It is adjustable for both action and intonation.

The single pickup is a EMG 40DC connected to an EMG BTS sytem. The system can run on either 9v or 18v.

The controls are volume, bass, and treble.

The neck has a Hot Rod dual-action truss rod and two Carbon-Fiber reinforcement rods.

Though this protoype is one-of-a-kind, John is accepting orders for this model. Current delivery
time is about 6 months on new orders.

(This one is for sale by the owner) ;)

  5. Steve,
We can set up a meeting. But only if your interested in buying, I have NO time for tire kickers or freebees. Not meaning to be rude at all.
    Thank you for asking.

If that were a 5 stringer, it'd be a bass.

  8. I have an apprecation for the detail and how clean the whole thing is. Not exactly my thing, though I reckon it'd definitely grow on you. Its actually kinda growing on me now.

Okay, I actually really like it, the headstock shape is kinda not my thing but I love everything else.

  9. The headstock is actually very tiny, like a shortened Alembic. I'm about to make a deal with The Bass Guru on this forum for a trade for his Warwick FNA. Pretty even swap I must say!! Were both excited. I'm sure Guru will post his opinion.

Why is the owner selling this one of a kind custom?

Pretty woods indeed. I guess the wood was coming from Larry hehe :D

    Peace, JP

  13. JP,
The reason I'm selling it is due to the fact that this bass has a very hot, funk tone. My style is blues and oldies, thus a jazz or stingray tone is what I crave!
Thanks for looking, she is beautiful and delivers tremendous punch.
