According to sources, Watt has agreed to join Steely Dan this fall in time for their Massive Impedance tour. Word has it that the Watt/Fagen union is one made in heaven.

  2. Wow. That's pretty damn cool. Who'da thunkit?

I thought Tom Barney was their regular bass player for tours etc. ? Or do you mean as supporting act for the tour?

The original post is not very clear about what it means...:meh:

...doesn't seem likely to me...their styles are completely different--Donald Fagen & Walter Becker are known to be very precise and very thorough about the parts their musicians play---Watt is more of a DIY guy. No approach is "right" or "wrong"---whatever works---I'm just saying not too likely, not even being on the same bill.

"Watt" the heck are you all talking about? Can this be serious? While I ADORE Mike's playing (and his wonderful personality in the many times I have dealt with him as a sound engineer since '88) I just can't really imagine these styles together.

Mike - is this true? Could it be?

    Ummm......wow.

Steely Dan are one of those bands that are so talented I'm not sure if they want to make me woodshed for 5 hours a day or take my bass to the pawn shop.

I don't know, Steely Dan has always been a kind of jazz rock group, and Watt's latest album is crazy jazz rock. I could see it happening.

Or did he confuse the Stooges with Steely Dan?

On an unrelated note I just ordered the "Citizen" Steely Dan box set which contains all their albums from 1972-1980.

I'd say this still is :
    i.e. You've all been had.

C'mon, a third grader could figure out what's going on in the original post. :rollno:
I can't believe this has gone on, with any shred of plausibility considering the original poster (who has not bothered to reply BTW), for this long.
