wave bounce off hand instrument?!!

    whats the instrument called? its a box with an antenna and it bounces waves off of your hand and makes wicked cool sounds..

    i know wooten had one and it was used by NIN too

    its bounces waves off of your hand and picks the sound back up from this antenna..

    if u want to see one in action.. pick up a copy of NIN - and all that could have been and watch Sin... u see a lot of close ups in in teh intro of the dude playing it nicely..

    there's a not-quite-theremin in radiohead's "national anthem."

    there's this one website dedicated to the theremin. has a list of bands that have used them and stuff. i'll try and find it...

    Victor Wooten and friends were using a theremin at the Soul Circus show I saw (in Cleveland.)

    Yup ... Theremin ... after Leon Theremin, the Soviet scientist who invented it. He showed it to Lenin in 1919 and Lenin promptly sent him on a promotional tour of the US to tout Soviet science. Theremin promptly defected. The Soviets kidnapped him in the 1937 in New York and took him back to the gulag. Neat story, yeah? :cool:
