Someone i know just recently sold 2 of the websited he made for about $2300. He does it as a hobby. So yesterday i tried making a webpage with geocities. It sucks. you can see it at www.geocities.com/bentem925/index.html (the bidding starts at $20). I couldent make the links work, and it wouldnt let me put in a picture.

I got dreamweaver 4, and im gonna try to make a real site.

Does anyone know anything about website designing, and have any suggestions about where to get started?

for your links you need an anchor tag
    < a href="http://www.talkbass.com" target="_blank" >Talkbass< /a >
just remove the spaces before > and after <

this tells the browser to open Talkbass in a new window ( Don't forget the "HTTP://" )

also, click view -> source on sites you like to figure out how it works

    Have fun
  3. Personally they never improved on good old fashioned HTML coding for making websites. I've never been too fond of all these editors, I just stick with vi (unix editor) to do my HTML, C and Java coding.

    Ugh...I hate vi.

Plus just using plain old html for making websites isn't all that "powerful" anymore.
  5. All I know how to use is that plain text HTML, I always hated the programs.

I prefer an editor with syntax highlighting... Mac or Linux I use Vim and windows I usually use Homesite or Vim

While in the design phase, always make sure you consider usability. That, IMHO, is the most important aspect.
