Weight: Fender MIM vs. Essex

I have a simple question. Do SX Jazz basses generally weigh more or less or about the same than their Fender MIM brethren? assuming the wood types are the same of course...

My '03 MIM 5 string weighs about the same as my SX 5 string did. I didn't weight them but they felt the same.

I have 2 MIM Js and 2 SX Js, the SXs weigh a lot more.

I have MIM Fender and SX P-basses. I think the SX weighs slightly more, but it has a fat classic P neck while my Fender has a J neck. That probably accounts for some of the difference.

I had a MIM Jazz Deluxe V and I have an SX SJB-62 4+1 fretless. The jazz weigned in at 13.5 pounds and is easily the heaviest bass I've had. I think my SR5 is heavy at 11 pounds but that Jazz was a whole other level. It sounded fantastic though.

I haven't weighed my SX but I don't remember it feeling much heavier than my Lakland, which is 9 pounds. Unfortunately it's in the shop for some work, so I can't check the weight right now. Hopefuly I'll get it back this week.

My SX basses felt heavy...the LTD2 I have weighs 10.9 pounds on the postage scale while the Squier Jazz I had weighed only 9.6 pounds. I guess some will be lighter than others but due to the larger body and thicker neck, the SX seems even heavier.

Both my SX SPB 62's are well under 9 pounds.

Of course, I must note that Jazz basses are heavier than Precisions (at least the SX ones)...maybe due to the bigger, "offset waist" body and added electronics?
