Okay, so I spotted this in town a few weeks ago (it's right at the south side of Central Arcade, facing Market Street and Market Street Police station, and just across the road from the Theater Royal).

I have no idea what it's meant to be about! I've looked at it for a small logo or something, I've looked at the form and such of the layout, I've looked at it acrostically, and I'm guessing now there is no hidden message. I just wonder why it's there, having been there significantly longer than your average, normal advert. I wonder if it's something some Uni students have done as a project?

I love it and I love the text, but it's got me scratching my head, for sure!

Oh yes, if you look carefully you can see the reflection of me and my girl.

I think it may be religious

referring to the evil that is deceptive.

the kind that tears people/society down without them even realizing it .

It was thinking, due to it's reference to famous people, that it could be something to do with some kind of celebrity clap trap...though the first part of the text does seem to attack the pursuit of material possesions by stating that what you can never have will only hurt you...

I like it too, it's just the kind of thing I would stop and read. Of course now I've thought about it so much I have had to make a thread on it!

It's a comment on G.A.S, plain and simple.

I think it is, I see Stanley Clarke looking sad as an Alembic bass he can't afford comes out, and Vic missing out on a Fodera Monarch!

So it must be bass related.

Actually, it looks like a classical "Let them scratch their heads" kind of ad campaign. It's probably going to turn out to be about a new model of Nike shoes.

Chris mate, that's a lot of trouble to go to just to prove that you've got a girlfriend ;) .

Why not just post a picture of her and get it over and done with? :D

    (P.S. Yes, you're right :smug: , I'm jealous and I wish that I had a girlfriend :bawl: )

    ;)

I think that the key to it is the words which are missing. If you could find words to fit into those black spaces, it'd probably spell out the advertisers message.

My guess is that it's for a newspaper, or similar, but really we need a TBer of the calibre of Soulgeezer, Michael Jewels or Mark Latimour (or some other brainiac ;) ) to come along and solve it for us!

    :D

  14. Notice how the words form an "E"

...It's an ad for Eagle Brand Medicated Oil 24 ml / 0.81 fl oz.

    Duh!

whatever it is, it's viral marketing and here we are falling for it... pass it on... (BTW, I'm not saying viral marketing is bad, infact I kind of enjoy the chase)... :)

It's either a quote from Keith Richards or Iggy Pop.

Could it be a quote from Ian Bone's "Bash the Rich"?

You swine, you have revealed my cunning plan, in fact I created and payed for this advert to be put there so I could use this thread to indirectly alert you all of my status!

I've tried searching fragments of the phrase on google but nothing comes up. Someone needs to put that book online I guess!
