Weird computer

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by Nickthebassist, Apr 25, 2005.

  1. Alrighty my computer is acting weird. If I try and send a file to someone, their computer says my files are potentially unsafe. It's also had trouble connecting to the internet(although this could be due to the server). Sometimes when me or my dad try to log on, it won't let us type our passwords in. Ideas?

For your email problem, it is likely the cause is the other computer or email recipient.

In Outlook Express 6.0 there are security settings to remove all attachments from incoming email. It will produce a message saying "Outlook Express has removed the following attachment, blah blah.. potential unsafe .. ect." This will setting remove all attachments and will not even check to see if they are infact unsafe. To remove this, have the recipient check their mail settings.

In Outlook Express, go to Tools -> Options -> Security, remove the check from "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus". This will allow attachments to be opened in Outlook Express.

Nick, What system are you running, Mac or Windows? and which version?
Older windows systems are notorious for getting Virus infested, my 98 system totally froze and was inopperable due to one virrus and I'm sure it collected plenty of others in it's years of opperations. With the older window machines when your on the web you may be using more memory as a host sending spam then doing your own functions! And if someone else is using new Outlook there Virus programs will kill your files which may be infected and you don't even know it.

Sounds like as classic case of being infected with a virus that is moving around and hiding in Windows system files - probably need to run Windows in safe mode and virus check, with a good virus protection programme ....

...oh and did anybody say : "stop looking at porn!!" ;)

Dude, I know I'm going against the general opinion here, but I think you should STOP LOOKING AT PORN and stop sending it over MSN. Sheeze... I can't believe someone didn't suggest that yet.
