weird finger thingies

    alright so im watching SNL and peter gabriel comes on and i look at his bass player and he has these two huge long metal looking things on his first to playing fingers....anyone know what these are?:confused:

    That's Tony Levin with his "Funk Fingers", they're kind of like mini-drumsticks that attach to your fingers.

    The slap ring is different. What he uses look like piano hammers hooked to the ends of his index and middle fingers. He holds his hand way back on the top of the bass and pops the strings with them from there. Its like the Freddy Krueger School of Bass Technique.

    I made my own out of drumsticks. Someday I will be able to play something with them, I just practice scales and stuff with them now, extremely tricky, but great percussive sound.
