Weird tab symbol

Discussion in 'Tablature and Notation [BG]' started by Vast Piles, Nov 19, 2005.

  1. Hey,

I've been playing bass for a while now and I'm moving on to some tabs were I slap and tap alot. I was reading some tabs a while ago and they included a symbol that I don't know the meaning of. Those tabs didn't have a legend either. Anybody know what this means:

    |--6s--3-3--x--|

I don't know what that x is all about. Please help! Thanks!

how do you play those? you just cover the string with your left hand when you pop with your right hand?

  7. Yep, thats it. Don't fret a note, just rest your fingers on the string and play the string. Be sure to use more than one finger to mute, you dont want any sloppy harmonix coming through!
