Listen to this sound...it's what I've been "hearing in my head" for years!!
Wow! I'm impressed. A nice flashback to the 70's and a nice sounding bass.
Chowy ? never heard of them. great sounding bass , good player too
Products | Chowny Bass
"Chowny Bass is a new UK bass brand designed in the UK and manufactured in China.
We are now launching our first model the CHB-1 a Maple Semi-Hollow Body Bass guitar.
Our philosophy is to cram the most value we possibly can into our basses while keeping a starter guitar price. That’s why in our basses no corners are cut. From the bone nuts, to the locking tuners we make sure that every component has as much thought and attention put into it so that you benefit from an epic sound for a great price."
The Chowny short scale and the Eastwood classic 4 are virtually identical, other than the inlay shape. I have the latter - can't make it sound like that, though.
thanks, must've missed a key
Just what you said!!!
Nice sounding bass.
Who has them?
The Chowny bodies are a bit different in the horns, I realized - more 335ish, the Eastwood is more flattened a bit. I still bet they're the same factory. I do like the Chowny top and finish choices better, those dark flamed maple tops are gorgeous!
Those flamed top ones are currently 340 pounds sterling, or about $380. Nice, and cheaper than the Eastwood, but for that money, you could have a Sire M3 - not semi-hollow, but much more value per $, imho.
Killin ! I have an old 60's hollowbody and love it.
Other than the first class playing, my thought was "there goes any question about slapping on a hollow body, a short scale, or a hollow body short scale with the pickup scrunched up against the heel of the neck. hehe I ain't a slapper, either.
I love hollows & semis too, new or old. Prefer longer scale, but these are fun.
That guy is great. He's apparently only been playing for a few years. I think one of his videos says that somewhere. Something like 3 or 4 years. The kid can play.
Absolutely. Any piece of kit with a decent setup and a great player sounds...well, great!
Great player and sounding bass. Kinda sounds like a version of "Uptown Funk".
Sigh, kids today - they make me feel so old and incompetent.
The pickup balance and EQ is radically different from Ed's in the OP's video. So is his right hand position much of the time.
It's funny to see an fishing rod ad pop up on the video. Apparently Big Data still has some rough edges.
I feel your pain! I've just learned to be content with what I can do...and wish I was 18 again.
davie504 is a killer bass player
sounds like the jamerson type of tone in the video
