I've strung a set of LaBella Flatwounds through body.
So far, the bass hasn't exploded.....
You Crazy Risk Taker you!
Don't tell anybody but about a month ago I put a set of longscale Labella 760Ns (nylon tapewounds) on my shortscale Mustang RI, strung through the body and everything.
The world didn't end and I'm giddy over my flouting of their authority.
Mum's the word.
I'm itching to put flats on my 77 P, but I'm afraid of how my teacher will react.
Pissy dude! Teacher's are pissy about flats on a student. 'They don't buzz when you make a mistake'
Put whatever strings you want on YOUR bass.
Crazy. I hope you haven't been stepping on the sidewalk cracks, too!
Just dont divide your string through by 0.
Youre already walking a fine line my friend.
Oh, I'm not that crazy, yet.........
Ehhem, no pictures, no flouting of authority
I've got LaBella tapewound on my Steve Bailey Fender through the back and all. The Inquisition has yet to knock on my door. However, small dogs and children run away in fear when I walk down the street, and I no longer have a reflection. I think the tradeoff was worth it.
Heck, if the break angle isn't too severe, you'll be fine. If it IS too severe, the string will break. S0......why do it? Most of us agree it makes no tonal difference, so why risk it? Just sayin..........
Hey Mongo how do those tapes sound on the Mustang RI?
This made me laugh. Thanks for that.
Because he is Irish.
Many reasons, mainly so that the windings near the ball are far out of the way of the saddle, which is important for me, as with my setup, the saddles are very far back.
It also ment that all the winding around the tuning posts had silks, which LaBella said was necessary, on the pack, and it didn't mention problems with string through.
Also, suprisingly, very suprisingly, the sustain noticably increaced.
I got two words for you!
Some bridges have to go string through.
Are the La Bellas long scale long enough for most 34" through bridge basses?
Tough loves the best love, according to Bubba my friend!
Mine is 34" and string through, and there was room to spare, not enough for 35" and string through, though.
Those words were neither tough, nor love.
