We're moving to a new house, so I've been cleaning out the basement. Today I decided to go through all my instrument cases... And in a case I thought was empty, I discovered a bass I didn't know I had.

It's a US made Peavey Forum PJ in what appears to be the original hard case.

I hate to break it to you...

... I've been living in your crawl space, and it's actually mine.

I do vaguely recall it and I recognize the case, which has a damaged corner. But I had no idea it was still there.

    So that's where it is.
Don't you remember when you borrowed that?
I was going to remind you, but I forgot.

That happened to me also. At first I thought "SWEET!" Then panic set in. Maybe I accidentally picked up the wrong case at a gig or somewhere. Someone maybe be trying to track me down and have me beaten up and/or charged with theft. Later that day I remembered purchasing the bass and I was relieved.

I routinely forget how many basses I own. I'm honestly embarrassed at this point.

I've got a guitar tech friend who's sitting on a bass that he can't recall where it came from. He's asked me at least twice if it were mine.
