Westone Thunder II or III confusion

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by vinnybass, Jan 8, 2004.

  1. Hello people of the bass playing community

    Just joined the forums.
I have what I thought was a fretless Westone Thunder II but after looking at a particular site which I cant find again at the moment,It looks exactly the same as a Thunder III without the frets.I dont know what I got to be honest.

In any case I am looking for a diagram for the active electrics .I need to replace a switch or two and some of the wires have come adrift during investigations.

Any info would be greatly appretiated.
    Pic Attatched.

    All the best

Wow!! That looks exactly like the Westone Thunder III I had in the 1980s!!

It was a great-sounding bass and I used it on a TV appearance. But then it got damaged - one of the knobs broke off and never sounded as good. I took it back to the shop in Brighton where I bought it, but they were never able to repair the electronics to get it back to how it should have sounded - I ended up trading it in for an Ibanez Musician.

I wonder if it could be the same bass!!??
  3. Hi Bruce
I see we are little more than a stones throw apart.
Yes I think it is a Thunder III too although the plate covering the trussrod begs to differ at Thunder II.....Odd!
    The serial No is 2050868.
Perhaps I should take it in to be sorted.
If I can get it back in order I shall be looking to sell it as I dont make a good fretless player.
I shall stick with the frets.
What did you do for TV ?
