This weekend I went to a gig in the rain (torrential downpour) and by bass got a little wet inside the gig bag. It has an oil/wax finish... So when I home, I noticed that the back of the neck was much rougher than before. The neck is maple with jatoba stringers, and the seams between the laminations feel more prominent now...

Is my neck damaged? or can this be fixed by waiting for the bass to dry, and sanding the back of the neck and re-oiling and waxing? Please let me know. Thanks.

  2. this sounds like the moisture raised the grain. light sanding (400 or 600 grit) and re-oiling will get it back to where it was.
