WFBA waiting for basses anonymous!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Fretless5verfan, Oct 23, 2002.

  1. I was talking to Adrian Garcia recently about the roscoes we are both waiting for and he said something interesting about a group for people who are overly anxious about basses that are on the way. I'm massively bored and HORRIBLY excited about my roscoe 6 thats coming within the next month. Does anyone else besides me have this problem!? if so come vent and post in progress pics! it eases the wait to see other people's basses in progress as well. I'll start us off:

Wow. I can't wait to see that thing when it is done.:D ;)

That has to be the best looking Roscoe body I have seen. What kind of fretboard are you going to have on it?

Me, I am just getting tired of trying to decide what my next bass will be. Once I finally figure that out, then I can worry about being impatient about getting my hands on it.
  3. Thanks for the kind words! I just emailed Keith and asked him for a big run down on all the woods and specs and what not. As soon as i get em i'll put em up.

Ryan- the fingerboard is a tamer type of spalted purpleheart, not the crazy one with the actual purple streak on it. what do you think?

    Looks sweet!

Awesome piece of wood. I too am having a bass built too (Dp Custom)... except mine wont be ready until probably Feb :( but it should be prety sweet when it's done :D I just hope my top is as nice as yours.

Be sure to post more pics when you get them.

Roscoes are wonderful. I have one on the way with a amber stained burl top, spalted purpleheart board, etc. I've had others in the past and they all sounded great. I still believe his basses have the clearest, strongest B string you can get.

As far as the waiting goes, just be patient. You don't want to rush a good thing. It won't get to you any faster by being impatient

very nice body! I really dig that top....

It isn't a Roscoe, but I will be placing a deposit on a Lakland Skyline Jo Osborn 5 on Friday... it should be a while before it comes in, so I can appreciate the wait!

I too am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my MTD 535. How do you guys always get pics of your basses in progress? If I were to e-mail Mike Tobias, could he do this? That would be sooo cool. Incredible looking Roscoe, by the way:D

Nice bass! I'm getting me a couple roscoes in the future. Either a 5 soon to tide me over till I get an SKB3007, or a long wait, and a SKB3007 straight up.

    Maybe a 3004 string BEAD though...hmn...
  10. Thanks for all the compliments!

Rayzak-its weird that he hasnt sent progress pics already, i thought Mr.Tobias just did that without request. How far along is?

Brad-i expect you to be cool man, you've got a TON of great basses! All i have is my measly BTB to hold me over haha.

Bikeplate-That sounds like its going to be quite a bass man. I want to see some pics as soon as you get em! haha.
  11. That's a beautiful piece of buckeye! It looks like the basses Adrian has been getting from Keith are much more interesting and radically figured then most of his instruments. I have a Roscoe SKB-3006 that looks very similar to the one on the front page of his website except with a "spalted" purpleheart board, 6 strings and SKB body style. I have had it for about 2 years and get quite a few positive comments about its looks and sound. Enjoy!
    My bass.

  12. That is one kick ass six string. The purple part of the fretboard and the orange finish go together in really odd and cool kind of way. How do you like the string spacing on it? its something im a tad worried about with mine.

I'm anxiously awaiting a custom 6-string Curbow that I have being built. I try to resist calling more than once a week to ask about it! Here are a couple of pictures--as you can see, it still has a ways to go. ;)

PS -- the buckeye top on that Roscoe is killer!

Looks like it's going to be an SKB body type. I've had 3 and have always favored the LG. I like the way he slants the pickups. I thought it was for a purpose but he told me he does it just for looks!! Good luck. Post a pic when you get it

Hopefully Greg only drew 5 strings on the mock-up to save a little time! He does know it's a six, right? :)
