Wha? All of the sudden I like the Fender BXR 200!

  1. This amp is my church's backup amp, and when we first got it, I liked it. Then down the road I didn't. We now have an Ampeg B2-48 combo. When we got this, I was blown away at how much better it sounded than the BXR. Then, last night, with some careful eq tweaking, I really dug my sound thru the BXR. It seems louder than the Ampeg (never seems too strained), and seemed to cut thru better. The Ampeg sounds great alone, but sometimes doesn't seem to cut thru as much, and runs at of gas (I get the limiting light a lot). Yes, we play pretty loud, but not like death metal loud or anything.

Anyway, am I nuts? I'm thinking of picking a BXR up myself. It doesn't sound as good alone as the Ampeg, but in a live mix, sounded great. I'm dumbfounded!

(I've also noticed, even when using an extension cab with the Ampeg, that I'm not getting the volume and "cut thru" that I need. This is weird, cuz I absolutely CRAVE the sound I get out of this rig, alone. But in a live mix.......)
