i thought that early P bass came with a natural finish only. But I'm far to be an expert! :)
  2. yep.. the first P's were avail only in a yellow transparant finish.. but if you read the thingy on e-bay.. it was refinished...

I should have read it :)
  4. Maybe I'm naive, but what's something like this doing on Ebay in the first place?

Surely the seller would be better served in a specialist auction where the correct price could be obtained - assuming it is legit, that is.

It just doesn't add up. It's like putting up a vintage car for sale in the small ads in y' local newspaper....IMHO....

  5. This is exactly why I questioned it. I bet Fender Inc. would buy it back for mad cash!

All the old Fenders that I have seen on Ebay have had pages of documentation with them to authenticate their originality. I would be suspect of this one just because of the lack of description or history.

If it is for real, I'll bet that almost anyone here could sell all of their gear and not raise enough $$$ to meet the reserve.

John Turner is excepted from this, of course, If he got value for all of his Conklins, he could pay off the national debt!:p
  8. Man, yet another 1952 P-bass? I swear, I'm running out of closet space for those things. Anyone know any good uses for 'em?

I'm sure it lost a ton of value from the refinish, though.
