I can grab a 4ohms Ampeg PR410.. for a good price.. but that 128lb cabinet sort of defeats the purpose of portability.. I am feeling my Berg 12s are a bit lacking as of late.. I was thinking of selling them, moving to 1 4x10 4 ohms cab.. and keeping the LM II head.
Avatar? Mine's only 57 pounds or something. I haven't gotten to try out a LMII yet but I really want to.
I just moved from an AE410 to an HS410 (which I haven't actually got yet but tried). They both sound superb with my LMII.
I have the Epifani ULII 410(4 ohms) and it works great, although i am looking to trade for a Berg AE410...I hear it has a tighter and punchier sound as compared to the big, wide pure tones of the Epi.
I am a proud new owner of an SWR Golight 4x10 - tried this at the New England GTG and as luck would have it became available (thanks David) - I literally just got it home and will be trying it paired with my Goiliath II tonight. I am so stoked! My heads are LMII and SWR 350x - I also have an old original 800RB that I might have to fire up. My reference is going to be the Goliath II - and my Ampeg 15 that I have paired with it is going to be for sale soon - it is mint.
i pair mine with a markbass HR 4x10 in my band's practice room and at home with a markbass 1 x 15 (jeff berlin). the markbass cabs are not cheap, but they are light and fantastic quality.
I'm really happy with my LMll and a GK Neo410. It may be a bit heavier than some others at around 75lbs but it has a killer tone.....with the tweety turned off, of course. B.
tks for the responses.. I have two separate 12" cabs.. I like them, Bergs.. but I can pick up a PR 410.. for cheap.. wondering if I should do it.. a 4 ohms.. total power of LMII.. in one cab.. with the ampeg name.. I wonder.. will a 4 ohm 4x10 have more sound than two separate Berg 12s.. ones an EX112S, the other an ht112.. paired together, they are great.
I am running that exact combo. LMII and PR410HLF. Pros: Deep bass response (great for 5 string, although I don't play one) Very detailed sound reproduction Can go from old school to hi-fi Built like a tank (cab) Even though it is heavy, the handles are a superb design. Cons: Heavy as **** (cab) Not very efficient (it gets loud, but not as loud as some other cabs. It is a trade off for the deep bass response) Heavy as **** (cab) I also got mine for what I consider a steal ($350). I play in a rock cover band in small to medium clubs and it does well for me. If I didn't have to haul it out of the basement practice area, it would be great.
I can get the PR410 for $295.. that is why I am thinking about it.. that's an amazing deal.. it is quite scratched up.. but the speakers are fine.
thanks for the response.. I am likely going to grab the cab.. it's just a steal for the price. I despise "bright" bass cabinets or basses, though.. when you turn the horn off, I hope this cab is not brittle or bright sounding.. sometimes, I wonder if a single 15" would be better.
