It came with a gorgeous Fender Deluxe Jazz (MIK) :D

I did A-B-C tests between this, a tight Geddy and a beautiful Aerodyne @ the local GC and it was simply no contest. This is my first active instrument and I can see why alot of folks like such innards. The difference is stunning!

The manager matched MF ($629) and didn't charge me 7.25% sales tax. :hyper:

    GAS cured... for now... :p

That's a good lookin' bass. Congrats. :bassist:

  3. Hmm, the 24 frets could take some getting used to but it's an amazing looking bass! Good to see that Fender is making some headway into a more modern market. The American Deluxes are absolutely amazing - now they're making more affordable and modern basses.

Ah, thanks for the info Bassik.

Man, what is up with Fender's generic manual?

I don't even know what some of the knobs do. I have four knobs. One is a stacked concentric. I figured that one is treb and bass boost. The one above it is master volume. I don't know what the two rear ones do. They change the sound

    The toggle is series/parallel.

I digged up some knob diagrams @ Fender's site. They prolly are pan and mids. But the toggle is not clear yet. It could be an active/passive switch too. I'll have to test that by removing the batteries.

Or I can email Fender. But real men don't do that do they?

I was able to spend a couple of hours with the bass tonight and the switch does seem to give me an instant bright and clear EQ setting in the down position.

I wish it allowed me to instantly play "Aeroplane" too :D

oh man the first few weeks after buying a new bass could be the most frustrating slash rewarding time in the process. all i have is an s-1 switch on mine and after almost a year i finally got THE setting that i'll call MY tone.
