Here's my plan. I have an Ampeg SVT 210 AV cab with a shuttle 6
and VT bass. Love the sound so...........

    What about this rig?

2 stacks of 2 Ampeg SVT 210AV cabs with a 2ohm capable head and a vt bass pedal.

Anyone done something like this? I know Chef had 2 stacked.
Is this a crazy idea? I'm definitely doing the single stack.

i would think it would sound pretty much identical to the 810e.

Dont have too much experience with the 2x10 cabs but arent they smaller like depth wise compared regualr 2x10s. why not just build a BFM cab. they are light and sound great and the horn design makes them sound louder.

  4. why not 1 stack of 4?

  5. this may fly in the face of what some engineer types will say. But I always seem to get a different tone from a single 8x10 vs 2 4x10's. Ditto for a 2x15 vs 2 1x15.
Dont know if its coupling or a lack of cabinets rattling against each other but the monolithic single cabs seem to go lower with less effort.
I would think 4 2x10's would not sound as good as a single 8x10.

I think your issue would be the 5" difference in the depths of the two cabs.

Nice. Be hard to reach the amp.

that would all depend on the design.

i'll tell you, though, the depths may be different but it does sound a lot like a mini-810. at least to me...as always, ymmv.

  11. I know what you mean, many other bassists tell me its all in my head...but when people who do not play bass or even an instrument say that you are hitting lower and are louder, that's what I go on.

Mine is a 2x15's by Kustom from the 80's.
