What amp model is this, and what would be the most you'd pay for it?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by dukeisdog, Apr 9, 2009.

  1. I have a few pictures I found of this amp on my local Craigslist type site, and I'm very interested, but I know nothing about it, and he lives quite far away.

It's pretty beat up, but he says it's got lots of "jam" left in it.

Included, is the Cab and Head. He wants $50 for it. Should I get it?

    amp.

    amp2.

    head.

Thanks for any help on any info you can give me.

He also said this in the reply to my email: Its an old yamaha solid state stack, dual inputs, dual EQ for each input, vintage spring reverb, lots of jam. 50$ price is negotiable, i live in portage my number is *******.

  4. LOL!

I just wanna see if anybody knows what it sounds like, and about how much it weighs. Model number, anyone?

    Wow that's a pretty thin-looking bass cab.

The rig looks pretty ancient too.

If it works and you have the space to store it, I'd guess $50 is alright for it. OTOH, if it sounds ratty, then it's really not worth anything.

  6. Yeah, it's almost an hour drive down there, thats all.

I just don't wanna waste a bunch of time looking and trying it out, to find out I don't want it.

I may end up just buying it and using it as a project if it's not that great.

You sure it's not actually a guitar amp? With a reverb it's doubtful it would be a bass amp. Might also be why the cabinet looks so shallow.

  8. looks like a keyboard amp to me

Probably worth the 50 bucks if you can clean the Smuckers out of it-

This looks like a guitar rig. If it's been used for anything but practice volume bass playing then this amp's speakers are likely shot and cannot be replaced.

    I would pass on this.

Yep! I think these had those strange shaped Yamaha "natural sound" speakers with the wierd styrofoam cones. Fender used them in the 50w Bantam model bass amp and they always blew. I don't think you can even get replacements for those anymore.

The cab is too small for bass use anyway, so I'd pass on it.
