What are bi-pole pickups

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by fourstringbliss, Nov 7, 2004.

  1. I am looking at a Jazz clone and according to the description it has bi-pole pickups. What are bi-pole pickups?

  2. That's a new one on me. Maybe they mean the magnets in the pickups have 2 poles...wait, ALL magnets have two poles...... :meh:

Maybe marketing mumbo-jumbo? Or could they be referring to.....dunno.

  3. Fender advertises bi-pole pickups in their MIM Jazzes and their American Jazzes as well - they call them vintage bi-pole.

I believe those are the pickups that have 2 pole pieces per string as in this:

    As opposed to this:

Thanks, Jazz. This thread had me worried for a while. Thought I was going to have to get my Jazz's meds adjusted. Again.
