I am just curious as to what is more expensive to make for big name companies like Fender , EB , etc. and also what is generally more expensive a custome bass or a custome guitar?
  2. It's all dependent on what is involved. I'd say at this stage for any of those companies listed, that neither is really any more or less expensive...it's essentially a part list tally, and general assembly of said parts.

The price of the parts involved of course will vary a bit from piece to piece depending on what goes in (obviosly 3 pickups are a bit more expensive than one) but overall, between engineering efforts and production standards and time studies on processes involved, I bet the whole thing is pretty consistent.
  3. i think for companies like fender, where i do believe most of their instruments are made by machines. they also make their own parts, so i'd say they all cost about the same...thats only a guess though
