mine will be great... I'm basing it on a classic boost-only fender tone stack with a fixed mid-range...the end result will be much like a Sadowsky or an Aggie OBP-1. (I'm trying to focus around that 40Hz / 4kHz centre frequencies, too...something about that low-end boost that I want...) I'll get a lot of arguments in this area, but I'm keeping it simple and using a dual opamp. Buffer in => tone stack => Gain stage out
I had a Bart NTBT in one of my basses and it really boosted the headroom. I loved it, especially paired with a pair of Bartolini quad coil pickups.
2 band onboard bass preamp makers (major) Alphebetized Aguilar Audere Bartolini East EMG Glockenlang Sadowsky Seymour Duncan Lesser known (in the preamp game so far) Alleva~Coppolo Delano I'm sure I've missed some. Now everyone needs to argue about which of these qualify as great.
