What are the most iconic semi-hollow basses?

I have a 20 year old Ibanez artcore 140, its the only longscale i own. It has a beautiful neck and tone! All the single pickup artcore 140's came out of the factory with defective tone circuits, so you don't see them very often! An amazing bass once you have the electronics repaired!

Guild Starfire. In recent years, the Epiphone Jack Casady has become fairly popular, but I don't think it's nearing iconic status.

In terms of being one of the few that actually sounds good because they put the pickup in the right place for a bass, instead of copying guitar pickup locations, it's pretty iconic. Didn't they just do a 20th anniversary version?

Yup. 20th Anniversary model began in 2017. I bought one in Sept '17. It's a winner for me!

The Epi Jack Casady is also long scale!

Dano Longhorn.JPG One of these, maybe?

Yes they are. They're technically what's known as a "chambered" body, since they start out as a solid body (alder or plywood, depending on where they were made - and when), and have a large "chamber" routed out on either side of a center block running up the middle. Glue on a top and bottom made of Masonite, and - voila! The Danelectro...;)

I don't know about iconic but there were a few of these basses played on records, most notably Muff Winwood played on in the Spencer Davis Group along with brother Steve

I only have ever owned one hollow bass an original Harmony H22 also my only short scale bass. Not my favorite bass but it certainly has a certain sound that is hard to replicate. I have three sets of strings that get swapped as needed: a set of med scale D'Addario Chrome Flats, Med Scale RotoSound TruBass Black Tapes my default for bass work and a custom flatwound piccolo set from LaBella that is currently on the bass.

So we’ve done the most classic basses, but let’s see what the opinions are on semi-hollows only.
Guild starfire

Framus/Warwick Star bass , some folks don’t realize the Warwick star basses are actually like a reboot of their old Framus branded hollobody basses. Warwick and Framus are basically the same company but these days are like the bass division and Guitar division.
