What are your favourite tops

  1. Hiya i am having a custom built and i want to make the right choice of top.I am thinking about a quilted or flamed maple top but i am not sure.I dont have much experience in woods and i would like you to show me your favourite tops.

    My two favorite top woods are Flamed Redwood, and Crotch Walnut. However, there is something to be said about a nice 5A Quilted Maple top!

    I luuuurve this flamed box elder (if I'm not mistaken) which is on top of the NS NAMM bass [​IMG]


    And then there's Jeff's bass with this gorgeous crotch mahogany top (and snakewood fb!)

    Oh! I almost forgot about these - I came across them as I was surfing for ideas on a top for my bass as well :D Imagine having these as the top for your bass... insane!!!

    Flame,Quilt,Curly,Birdseye,Buckeye Maple. I guess i like Maple :D

    Thanks guys, I'm really excited about it as well. When I saw the top I knew I had to have a bass make with it. Chris keeps telling me the pickup covers look insane in the instrument, but of course he never fallows that with a pic.......

    In a few weeks it should be finished and I'll post pics!!!


    We get some of our tops from this little man named Larry, he gets mentioned everyonce in a while in thise parts. He can realy turn out great stuff, but you have to pay him........ :crying:

    After all the buckeye's and spalted, Amboyna, and color's the Brazilian is refreshing with a nice grain pattern. Don't get me wrong, I love the exotic's as is this, but not as flashy!
