Later in life, I plan on buying a Blueburst L2K Tribby, swapping the neck for a fretless Moses, buying nicer tuners, and replacing the knobs with those similar to a Jazz...or Black Gibson Speed Knobs.

I will name her Soulful Janine. Or Lady Blue.

I'm getting ready to replace the old, fritzing, noisy preamp in my Ibanez MC924 Musician with a Bartolini preamp.

I love this old ('79) bass, so here's hoping this mod'll keep the general tonal characteristics of the bass, but help me get a little more clarity and (most of all) lose the noise.

I've had plans to create my own L2K for quite a while, but with the Tribute line out, I may just trick one of those.

    Squier Precision Bass got de-fretted
Fender MIM Jazz will get the following: Badass II bridge, new Tuners, DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pickups, and I'll shave down the neck a bit more (The Geddy Lee neck is too sexual).

I'm thinking after I am done with all the gear I want (Ibanez SR1006 and some sort of good amp) I'm thinking about buying another precision bass (MIM) and putting in a DiMarzio Will Power set and adding in a second volume pot and new tuners and a BAII or something. Or make an Explorer of my own, not sure if I'd rather go the warmoth route or just do it all my own if I have proper access to tools.

My MIM jazz fretless is my victim for mods.

    - Series/Parallel (s1) switch installed. done!
    - Sharp neck edge on the G string side has been sanded so that it's slightly rounded along the whole length. done!
    - New pickguard (plywood, template basically) just completed yesterday, real new pickguard when I find the proper piece of wood for it. In Progress!
    - Probably going from Vol/Vol/Tone to MasterVol/Blend/Tone as my next project.
    - Straplocks

    Long-term:
    - New bridge.
    - Perhaps some Jazz Ultras somewhere down the line.
    - Pipe dream of replacing the fretlines with ebony (or similar) ones. The white is uglay.
    - Maybe refinish the headstock to match new pickguard, perhaps veneer it with a piece of the same wood.

    Here's a pic:

You can see the Series/Parallel switch just between the tone knob and the input jack.

    Gone to a better place
Setup the corpse of a Burnside "The Lance" as a 5 string.

Setup the corpse of an Ibanez Rickenbacker copy.

Change the hardware to gold on my Mouradian, maybe mod the electronics some more.

Gonna totally pimp out my green custom jazz.

    This is it now:

I'm gonna give it all black hardware (Schaller 3-D bridge, Schaller black tuning keys, string tree, strap locks) and swap out the passive V/B/T for a U-Retro Deluxe. Also gonna shield the control and pickup cavities. Should be a lot of work, but fun!

    Let's see...

I defretted my Squier Precision Special 5, shimmed the neck and installed Elixirs...it's wonderful.

Installed a DiMarzio Will Power Middle pickup on my MIM P Bass.

I installed EMG j pups, EMG BTS and EXB modules in my Hoyt/Warmoth J5.

I'm in the process of removing the preamp from my USA Fender Stu Hamm Urge I. I'll make it passive, Volume (for Js), Volume (for P), Tone, the Js will be connected in series with the mini toggle used to turn one or the other off (center position, both on) and will string it with TI Jazz flats. I look at it as my "Beatle Bass from Mars" project.

And then there are the guitars...
