What are your Top 3 favorite tone woods?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Kwesi, Aug 2, 2009.

  1. After playing a bunch of basses built with a bunch of different woods I've come to find that there are 3 that I really dig:

    1. Maple, bright and lively.
    2. Alder, has very similar tonal characteristics to maple but tends to be lighter (weight).
    3. Spanish cedar, somewhat dark tone with strong mids. I love my mids :)

  2. Are we talking neck or body wood here?

  3. Maple, Rosewood, and Alder.
