Can anyone tell me what bass Mark Adams played of the 70/80s group Slave? Does anyone know what he modified to get that greasy/funky sound he got?

    Pakistani compound
alembic probably, But I heard he was givin a jazz bass in the studio because he nor the engineer could properly record the bass you have inquired about. also I saw him live a year ago and he sucked. slave was my favorite funk group in the seventies.

I appreciate the info. Slave was one of my favorite funk bands of the 70's as well.

he started out on the j bass then switched to the
alembic only to switch back to the j bass probably
    for the reason pyrohr gave.
as for that sicka$$ tone i believe he uses a flanger
    and envelope filter.

Thanks Starchild... Now I have some insight on how Adams got that sound. I'm yet to explore the vast world of flangers, chorus, and envelope effects. I'll do that eventually.
