I was listening to some "non-mainstream" stuff lately, and it got me thinking... What are hipster bass players rocking these days?

Occasionally, it's easy to notice trends amongst bass players and their genres, so I'm just curious to see what indie musicians are playing...

Let's see some pics of basses that you think would suit the indie genre well.

Whatever bass it is, it would have an ironic mustache.

I think the Fender Jazz is pretty much the hipster bass.

  8. If we're talking bass fashion then I'd say that the Fender Jaguar is and will forever be the indie bass. As far as clothes, Hadrien Feraud should be the face of bass players fashion. The guy actually know how to follow the whole "dress for success" ideal. On the whole it just seems like bassists, at least the well known ones, couldn't dress themselves to save their lives.

    Yeah, bass fashion, not...uh...fashion fashion.

    +1 on the Jag.

And for the record, real bass players don't even wear pants; everyone knows that.

Jag. Definitely. Or some really ****** Squier -- e.g., the bassist for The Pains of Being Pure at Heart -- 'cause we all know buying into the corporate system is some kind of betrayal to ourselves.

  18. Zach Carothers of Portugal. The Man plays a sweet Fender Precision Special from the 1980's.

Jazzes for sure. I have seen a couple of T-40's in the noise/math seen around here.
