Im trying to find What beatles songs have the rickenbacker mutes on or a foam mute on the fender jazz? sometimes it not so easy to tell and if anyone knows some examples that would be great
Pretty much most of The White Album is Paul playing the Rickenbacker with the mute on. Really grungy bass tone, all attack with little to no sustain. Listen to ‘Helter Skelter’
That was John on a Fender VI bass.. The Jazzmaster type bridge(coupled with the 30” scale and thinner strings)doesn’t lend itself to too much sustain, that’s why JM/Jag guitars were a hit with the surf crowd, and the VI was more useful in country “tic-tac” situations, where the upright was providing all the low-end “umph”. Somehow, Jack Bruce was able to get a fat sound out of it on Fresh Cream.
