What kinda tone do you like? What style music do you play? How loud do you need to be to keep up with the band?

i want like a clear tone, no buzzing or whatever my ****ty bass amp does. a full sound, with deep lows.

im probably gonna be playin stuff like rush does, maybe some slap bass. and loud enough for a small small concert.

I'd go with an Avatar cab and possibly a Ashdown head. Also, the Aguilar S series on sale now at Musiciansfriend is a steal. I would steer clear of Berhinger... My band has had reliability issues with their amps before.

i also need an amp, like not one more powerful than those amps can handle, but a decent, cheap one. like enough to keep the total under 500 for the cabinet and the amp

If you need something under $500 thats somewhat loud, then the only choice really is the B. But if you could squeeze $100 more, your gain a ton of options.

  9. Get the B amp but look elsewhere for speakers. My Avatar B115 is loud enough to keep up in small clubs and and can easily cop that older Rush tone (no tweeter in mine).

I was gonna go the cheap way out.. but then I saved some more cash and got my GK and peavey 410 and couldn't be happier. You may consider that instead of instant gratification

For 600 dollars i got a GK backline 600 (nice and powerfull, 300 watts) and an avatar delta 4x10 (very powerfull, can handle up to 1300 watts, so there is lots of room to upgrade my head)

  12. I would recommend an 2x12 or 4x10 avatar cabinet (both $299 new..maybe less used) and a Hartke 3500 bass head which sells on "the bay" or used equipment shops for under $200 all the time.

Sometimes the Hartkes get a bad rap here, but I have had a 3500 for over 10 years with no problems (but it has been a backup/practice amp for the last couple of years) It has tube and SS pre amps and if you get the 4 ohm Avatar cab it will put out 350 watts. All for around the $500 you want to spend.

Then when you get another $100 get a sansamp bddi.

    Good luck
