ok, im tired of playing through cabs that bottom out. i hate the sound. i like my tone withthe lows boosted and the mids cut, but it seems like most cabs cant handle this.. are there any that can?
i was thinking about that bag end 2x18 but i slap alot and im not sure how well a 2x18 would do for that. Ive thought about acme, but im not sure if those would be enough for my band. and edens seem very nice, im thinking about trying out a 4x10 with my amp next time im at gc and seeing how well it works.. i like peavey cabs also, but they bottom out too
bag end 18 and two (or four) tens... handle the lows... handle the slap. bag end makes great equipment.
Aguilars' larger cabs are legendary for "big" and "fat" bottom. Ampeg SVT's do a nice job with the bottom. Acmes are synonymous with low end, but you better have a hydroelectric dam to power them.
Have you tried the new Peavey cabs? Possibly they might be more of what you're looking for. If you do try one, tell me what you think, because I can't find one yet!
that sounds like it would be a good set up , a little pricey though. good cab, but theres just something about it that i dont like. i really(!) want to try some of aguilars gear. ampegs are good. no, i havent a chance to play one yet, the peavey dealer out here doesnt have any, but they will get some soon, i really want to try them out. they kind of look like swr pro series cabs. the same place has 2 older mesa 2x15 cabs. theyre the ones with the black covering and the port on the side.. im thinking about one of those. anyone know which series cab im talking about? any info/opinions on them?? nakoa
yes, that would be the mesa diesel 2x15. i think they're 4 ohms and 800 watts. mesa cabs rule, i used to have a diesel 1x15. super punchy, fast and bright for a 1x15. i don't slap but i can't imagine anyone wanting more high end. definitely give those mesa's a try. you might be able to get then at a discounted price since they are the older model. steve
I'm using an Aguilar GS115, and that 15"er is definitely fat, thick, rotund, obese, oleaginous... anything synonymous with fat applies! Thunderous lows, hasn't bottomed out on me yet. Sometimes I'll run it by itself... it's got everything I need tonewise. Superb cab!
theyre used, so what do you think would be a fair price on one of them? xush, have you tried the 212??
I haven't tried the 212 yet, but I'm jonesing to! I've also got 2 GS410's- I might consider offing one to get a more portable 212, but I sure love these cabs. I'll probably just hang on to them, I guess. I'm pretty sure a DB750 is in my near future, if they ever actually ship any...
The Bergantino 2/12 has massive low end! I'm sure the Aguilar would be simular........I'm really sold on 12 inch speakers now
That Peavey 412 is a refridgerator. I played one, and it is a good cab. Great low end, good highs. But the thing weighs around 120lbs. Too big for me. Geoff
I already have an Ampeg 610 HLF @ 115 lbs. and I fit that in the back of my Civic sedan. It's only an extra 5 lbs.
