What can you tell me about this Fender J Bass...

    A mate's thinking of selling it...

    It's a made in Japan "60's Re-Issue Celebrating 50 years of Fender Excellence" Jazz Bass. Serial number begins with a U so I presume that's made in 96(?). Sunburst finish. I think it might be a maple fingerboard, but can't be sure...

    It's recently been professionally set up - a few cracks in the varnish have been filled in, tortoise shell pick-guard has been removed and the screws put back in (countersunk). Well used, but still not that bad nick.

    What's it worth? He's talking about £300 - is that reasonable? I think it might be a bit steep...

  3. The price sounds reasonable, for a Japanese made bass. They're better than the Mexican Fenders, and in this case for about the same price. Play it, and if you like it more than others in its price range, go for it.
