What color pickguard with sunburst Jazz?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Jsonnenblick, Sep 14, 2003.

  1. I just got a really cool custom fretless modeled on a Jaco Jazz. It came with a black guard, but the owner wants the guard back for another bass. My question, since he's willing to buy me any color: what color guard do you like with sunburst? This bass has a fairly bright red next to the guard, so I'm concerned that the usual brown tort will clash . . .

Also, please post any pics you have of cool-looking sunburst/pickguard combos.

I might just go with a new black one, but figure I should explore the options.

    Tortiouse shell would look awesome..
  3. Have you thought about black, or maybe black pearloid? ? personally, I like the way black and sunburst mix. It gives a cool, jazzy look to the bass

'mint green' - (which is liked an aged vintage white color) --- I just put on my sunburst jazz----looks pretty classy.

I would also say the black pearloid, or for an off the wall look a blue pearloid.

Go to http://www.pickguards.com/ and check out some samples.

well i ve got some other words for that than 'classy'...

    So hows about:
    - black
    - black pearloid
    - redish brown pearloid
    - white pearloid?

    I would go black

I would go with no guard or clear guard or tort shell (for that vintage vibe)

well its all a matter of opinion.. I personally dont think black pearl would look good at all...(the nickname 'elephant bass' comes to mind) - again it's just an opinion.... you know just cuz its called 'mint green' doesnt mean it LOOKS green when put on the bass.... my cherry sunburst jazz looks great with it...:bassist:
