Man, you left a lot of companies off your list of choices!
How about Eden, Ashdown, Aguilar, and Euphonic for starters?

I agree! Too many good companies left off the list,
but I'm also old enough to remember when there would maybe be two or three companies that made great bass stuff:D

Sorry, but there is no best amp company, but several excellent ones. I own Ampeg, Mesa & G-K, & have owned SWR, Fender,Roland, Polytone, & Hartke.
There's about 6-7 others I have GAS for.
Each is voiced differently, each is the best for what it is.
    The winner is....
What each player thinks brings out the best tone for their style.

The poll is essentially meaningless since you didn't include the best manufacturer.
  9. Uh-oh, I smell another Ampeg win.

    Clean sweep by Ampeg.

    The 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, the 5, touchdown Ampeg.

    ...you get the idea.
  10. Oh yeah, it's not all that far because there are thousands of others across the world. But I'm a high end guy.

I hear you there, but perhaps none of those brands are available in his area. When I got my G-K stack, the only other brands I could find locally were Eden, SWR, Hartke, Fender, and Crate.

    If I can't plug-and-play, I ain't going to pay.

Well, so what, if it's not available locally? ;) :) Not much is here, especially high end stuff. Hooray for Internet and UPS! :)

And you guys forgot about EBS.

    Fender, Roland, Vox?
No Eden, Ashdown, Aguilar, Glockenklang, EBS, ...
    Sorry, but that's ridiculous.

Also I'm convinced that there is no best brand (sorry Munji ;)) so I did not vote.

  17. why is "best amp" an oxymoron? An oxymoron is comprised of terms that mutually exclude each other, such as: "quiet guitarist" or "conservative intellectual" or "Tasteful hair band" or "Modest Conklin owner"....you know.

"Best amp manufacturer" may be an unuseful concept, but it's not an oxywotsit.

Trace Elliot is no more so I would have to say ASHDOWN!!!

I will be looking for some of the new Trace Elliot/Gibson bass amplification gear. I heard they are working on new bass amps to be avalable in the next few months by Trace America.
    We will see.
