Pretty cool. Hippiesandwich's "Waldera," a 33" scale Fodera with Wal pickups and guts, beats this one though.

Doesn't look special to me. It's a neck-through with some nice wood, styled the same as a number of other basses. The metal switchplate is unusual.

But if it does it for YOU, that's what matters.

  5. I think what makes this special is the Wal electronics in a Carl Thompson design...
    Just guessing though ;)

It's a shame to see Wal electronics there, they should be in a Wal bass or at least a Fodera! :p

  7. I want it sooo bad... It has the CT looks and the Wal sound... But it's the absolute last thing I need right now (another fretted four string). It's also across a very big ocean. Rats.:crying:

The CT part of the bass isn't anything particularly special- it's a pretty plain body design and doesn't have anything that people look for in a CT. Doesn't appear to have great access to the upper frets either.

If my count is correct, you've got good access to 21 frets. For some, that won't do, and though I prefer a 24-fret design, I think I could deal w/ not using the last three frets for that bass. I actually really like the simple design coupled w/ the fantastic electronics. I'd like to see a shot of the control cavity / wiring scheme, though.

I'm just not a fan of having frets on a bass that you don't have easy access to. It's one of those "what were they thinking?" things for me :D

I agree. I don't like huge headstocks either, that thing looks like a Kayak paddle to me

    That's not a kayak paddle.
