what do u have against fieldy and his fans

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by sic_bassist, Jul 8, 2003.

  1. im not trying to start ne thing or make a huge mess. i was just wondering why fieldy and his fans rnt appriciated here at talkbass, this site should be a friendly site to all, since we all r bassplayers. im a young guy so if i offend ne of the older people here then to bad, but the beatles r long gone, get into the new age with music. there r alot of great bassists in the old days, but really check out the new styles and new fresh sounds of modern bassists. fieldy is unique since he has his own sound that puts him in a catagory by himself. instead of dissing fieldy why dont u give props to the man for making it big in today's music industry. plus without fieldy or KoRn there wouldnt be alot of kids taking up bass these days.

No, we just dont like people who can't spell "are" or "any".

And yes, you are trying to start a huge mess. This thread needs to be closed before it goes off the deep end...

Fieldy, unique? Yes. Unique isn't always good.

It isn't a style. He doesn't practice, and openly acts proud of it.

You think thats a good influence on young bass players?

Well, I for one stay out of dissing, for the most part, but I don't like Fieldy and shouldn't have to act like I do. The Beatles may be long gone, but there are other kinds of music in the world. I don't give props to people for making it big in music, I give props to people who make good music. If they are making it big, then great, but if not, that's fine too.

I don't think what Fieldy is doing is good, at all. I can't stand the music he plays, I can't stand the way he plays it. Why should I listen to things I don't want to?

  10. fieldy is a influence to me and most younger people, because of his attitude and not giving a ****. i think he is a good bass player and thats all that matters.

So not giving a **** is reason to look up to him? Music is not just something to "not give a *** about". Music is a very serious thing.

Again, I ask, how is he a good influence.

Like WR said, I'll let you know how my gig went. How did yours go?

As far as I am concerned, Fieldy isn't a bassist. He's just some guy playing bass.

Seriously, we respect your opinion to like whomever you want.

Apparently, many vocal members of the TB community ardently disagree with you as to the
proficient technique and prolific artistry of the afore mentioned bassist. Some of the more accomplished musicians are amused at the BS and hype. Is that so unusual? I think not? Happens all the time, I for one, don't have to buy into it.

    It's showbiz.

I recommend that before you tout Korn as an incredible band, you become more acquainted with metal in general. And do a search on google for "faith no more" while you're at it.

Here are two great places to start:

    www.swedishmetal.net
    www.bnrmetal.com

By the way, this will probably get closed, as it has been done to death and usually ends in a flame war.

One last piece of advice, people on this board will give you much more respect once you learn to spell and use proper grammar and punctuation.

I have nothing against FiElDy. His playing works extremely well with Korn, although I doubt if it would work with any other band.

The only fans of his that I have a problem with are preteen wannabes who think that he invented bass playing and is the best player on the planet. But I don't rag on them, I just encourage them to open their ears and their minds, and realize that there is a whole world of music out there that is not Korn.

The "Y dO u h8 fIelDy" thing has been done to death. It's always the same thing...

    1) He never practices.
    2) His tone can be described as awful or worse.
    3) All of his fans think it's way cool to "spElL thInGz Awl RoNg".
    4) His band is not liked by most people who listen to real music. Most kids like them because they haven't heard anything other than what Carson Daley has said to be "Totally rockin" or whatever that giant :mad::mad::mad: with ears calls them.
    5) He never practices.
    6) He makes sculptures out of his own feces.
    7) He never practices, AND MAKES THAT SEEM "KeWl"

  19. im only 18, i know im just a kid and have alot to learn in life. well there r so many other bassist i like and respect, but fieldy just for his attitude and KoRn's ambition to the "nu metal" sceen.

I have an honest question. What about his attitude do you look up to and respect? I haven't seen anything from him that deserves respect.
