Hi all. I was just interested to know what you guys call your baby? (bass that is, not a real baby!) My bass is called Felicity. The most sexy name I could think of. It also reminds me of a really hot actress called Felicity from a programme called Neighbours. You UK and Australian guys will know who I'm talking about! Anyway I'm going off on a bit of a tangent. So go ahead shoot...
i trying to decide between gumbe i have a warwick and i love gumbe.or i going to call it fubar.cause when i just start playing with my freinds in the room and messaround with effects they think its fubar . and i allways mess around with my main bass the warwick. i cant say what fubar means on this site but alot of peeps knwo what it means
fubar is ****ed up beyond all recognition. I used to live across the street from a bar called the FUBAR INN. I usually call my P bass the "Precision" I usually call my J bass the "Jazz" I usually call my DA Pilot Plus V the "5 string" I usually call my EB-O the "Gibson" and last but not least, I usually call my Starfire the "Starfire" Pretty imaginative huh?
I call my main bass(fretless 5) The Zon I call my main 6 stringer The Cirrus I call my fretted 5 The Pedulla I call my Ibanez 6 Pretty piece of crap I call my fretless 4 The Westone I call my Fender Jazz Geddy I call my Peavey Foundation(loaned out right now) The red one
when I'm playing them, just about every expletive you can think of, and a few you can't... I have three that are on eBay... hopefully I will call them "gone!" P@
My walnut/maple carvin fretless 5 is named Jade. My green ibanez USA ATK 5 is named Ivy. My older MIJ ibanez SR800A is just called "my old ibanez 4 stringer" had i known that my next bass was going to be green, i probably wouldnt have named the carvin Jade. but ya cant change the name folks.... so i had to come up with another "green" name for the green bass. hence, Ivy. (i had jade first)
I call my p, thumbmeister or thumpasorus (no, i didn't spell that incorrectly) or Sir Thump-a-lot My jazz is called zingy.
They all get called the same thing; - "My bass", or, - "Pretty good" I may call my custom, "Godot" because all I do is wait for it.
lets see - my warwick SSII is either "super funk machine" (the successor to my thumb the "funk machine" - i didn't name it a guy in my band did) or "the warwick" or "god" my sterling is called "Number 6" because if you count it as a new bass with the new neck it's my 6th bass, and 6 is the atomic number of carbon. my upright is called "bastard" jason
I call my Stingray 5 either "my stingray" or "the ray..or "my sex beast"... sometimes late at night when its dark and my roommate is asleep my bass slips quietly into bed with me... oh wait.umm.. i mean.. yeah I call it "my stingray"... gotta go..
The Univox is either the Univox or the blue one or the vintage one, the Explorer is either the Explorer or the Monster, the Rickenbacker is usually the Ric but has been officially dubbed Mjollnir. 2 15s, 2 10s, 4 12s, and an 18 will kind of make you feel like the god of thunder.
I have never really caught on to this thing of naming basses, cars, etc., or calling them "she". I call all of my basses "my bass" usually, as in, "I think I'll go play my bass for a while." Or, if I need to specify, I call them by the name the manufacturer gave them, such as "JP-90", or "Precision." None too clever, but there it is.
Ibanez BTB405- "Misty Night" or just "Misty" for short. only a few friends know the signifigance of the name. Ibanez GSR200(defretted)- "beater", or "4 stringer"
