What do you do with your bass club number after the bass is gone?

I have gotten rid of a few basses and I was just curious, do I keep the numbers, give them back, delete them from my page or is this a case of "ONCE IN ALWAYS IN?" (As long as you don't bad mouth the former axe, of course ;)).

I just removed my # from my signature & stopped going to the club threads.
same for amps I've owned & sold

Write it on a piece of paper, eat it, and flush it once it makes it through the old intestines.

That's why I don't become an "official" member of anything. Although these days my in and out has basically stopped.

  6. I haven't left a club yet. I'm more of a bass hoarder. I've only sold my first bass in 1997 to raise money to move from the East Coast to West Coast of Canada.

My club list has grown too long to include in my signature. I maintain a list in my TB Profile Page. I keep the list in my Previously Owned Gear section.

Where some Clubs had become inactive and stopped issuing numbers, I self-assign myself an ID using the post number as a reference. If they eventually issue me a number, I replace the self-assigned number.

I actually chose to take over the 5-String Club to restart issuing club numbers.

I thought you were supposed to include the club number with the case candy when you sold a bass... :wacky:

I don't think I ever "did" anything, including updating my profile to remove the club membership number. Maybe I'll take a look at it some time when I'm bored enough to do it. :D

However, there are no established rules. Every club is its own thing with its own (probably) nonexistent set of rules - and some clubs don't even give out numbers.

Must sheepishly admit I have not been recycling my numbers when through with them.
My digits all end up here:

  16. I've never really kept up with up with it personally but I would suggest keeping numbers as you did own one. Make TB about learning and music and not about gear hoarding

I maintain a spread sheet showing all the clubs and all the heretofore issued numbers, and I subscribe to alerts for all such threads in case one of my favorite numbers is repurposed.

  19. Are you club numbers highly coveted?

If so, sell them to the highest bidder, then retire to Hawaii.

I was #1 in the SVT-5 PRO club, and when the Beatles released their anthology of the same name, I was bought out for $32,000.
I had a hard time actually bringing myself to cash the check as it had Ringo's signature on it!
