For those of you who eat in diners, what do you like to order in them? I generally stay with breakfast, soup and milkshakes.

Breakfast. I judge a diner on how good its hash browns are. No hash browns? Instant fail.

If dinner, a sandwich (reuben, turkey, cheesesteak, something like that).

Public Service Announcement: If you drink water, always ask for no lemon... it's the dirtiest thing in the restaurant!

  4. +1 on the lemon.
I'm generally a tuna melt guy. Special.

  5. Breakfast or a pattymelt. I agree, no hashbrowns = fail!

Depends when I go. For breakfast I like omelets with hash browns or eggs with gyro meat. For lunch or dinner I like gyros, coneys, fish and chips, or a burger.

  7. Breakfast, you can tell a lot about a place on the quality of their bacon. For lunch, I love me a good Reuben.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. If it's a diner it better have the best fried chicken and gravy in town or it's just another greasy spoon.

Breakfast (eggs, hashbrowns, toast, and gravy) or chicken fried steak.

Chicken? Not hash browns? You have a valid opinion.

Corned beef hash, poached or sunnyside eggs, hash browns, toast or bagel w/ cream cheese. Lots of ketchup. I might do this four-five times a year.

Often the special, unless it doesn't appeal to me ,then it's fried chicken ,breakfast or a burger.

  17. this guy just read my mind - I usually go with their biggest breakfast deal (I only ever really go to a diner before a big road-trip), I've never had satisfactory sausage, and the bacon is never quite as crispy as I like it, but if the place is good the pancakes and the hash browns are to die for. eggs overeasy, whole wheat toast, always sticks to my ribs!

I hate when someone at the table mentions lemon, so everyone gets one. I don't even care about it being dirty, but then I have this lemon slice I DON'T WANT and have to pawn it off on someone.

  19. Breakfast. I'm a diner breakfast freak!

    And pie.
