Tab online just doesn't work for me, I need standard notation to go with it so I can get note durations down accurately.

Check out a book called Bass Logic I think its called. Its a spiral notebook type thing with "The Thinker" statue on the front holding a bass I think.

Got some great stuff in it.

Yup and its available at Amazon.com for $19.95.
  4. There are four books I would recommend:

Glenn Letsch, Bass For Beginners: The Complete Guide
    David Overthrow, Beginning Electric Bass
Ed Friedland, Hal Leonard Bass Method
    Bert Casey, Bass Guitar Primer

    Good Luck
