    Hi Everyone,
I'll looking for a lightweight, budget priced cabinet and have narrowed it down to these models. Does anyone have any thoughts about these or other suggestions?

    Gallien-Krueger 210 BLX

I added the Gallien-Krueger 112MBX Extension Cab, which is a 12" extension cab that weighs only 12 pounds but is only rated for 100 watts. The 12 pound weight makes me a little leary of how good it is.

I do use a 5 string sometimes (but I usually only go down to the D) if that helps. My prefered head is a MusicMan HD 150 that I love.

    Thanks!

Weight is a non-issue as far as tone and output are concerned, a well engineered/constructed cab doesn't have to be heavy. Size, however, does place restrictions on how low and how loud you can go. If a lightweight cab is light because it's small then low end output may suffer. As for driver size that in and of itself has little to no bearing on how low or loud a cab may go.

First, what is the wattage of your head? If your head is 200w and the cabs total 500 to 1000w then you will not be happy with the sound of any regardless of the make. I use Avatars, never had a problem with them. (2) 2x10, 8ohms @500w each with an Ampeg SVT6 pro (1100) watt head. You need to closly match both. Also check the rating of whatever cabinet your looking at for the lowest Hz it will handle. In Avatars case the speakers will handle down to 36Hz for a good low B. The Ashdowns and GK's are also very good cabs.

Would love to add a 2nd for larger venues

    It is a great cab.

My Music Man is rated at 150 and will run 4 or 8 ohms. 6L6 power section.

  9. You might consider Dr Bass LLC as well. He has some rather compact stuff that works well. He has what he is calling the RXTreme series going real cheap for the tone quality of what is inside. I would echo Avatar as a viable choice too.

Some cabs just need adequate power to shine. Often you trade away efficiency for something compact. Seeing lightweight amps in the 2KW range makes me think one could get away with that trade these days.

The Avatar is the best cab in your list.

Have you seen the ABM's in person. They are beautiful, but not lightweight actually I think they are heavy for a 210. But then again I just odered 2 of them.

I've never been impressed with single 12" cabinets, but continue my love affair with 2x10 cabinets.

I'll check out some of the others mentioned. I guess I need to be looking at efficiency since the MM is only 150 watts. I just like the sound of it. I used to use a 2x15 cab with it and loved the tone.
