My normal gig is with a eleven piece band with PA support, ( I come through the mains ) my current amp is overkill! I was debating on buying a 1x12 cabinet for the gigs, or getting a combo for those gigs! A good 1x12 will run $400 or more, but I see the TC electronics BG500 cost about $450 -500! What are your thoughts

    I use a Eden wt550 with a Epifani PS 410 ( 4 ohms ).

Personally I like a modular setup, seperate amp and cabs, so that I can mix and match whatever not only depending on the band, but also the size of the venue.

Even with PA support, some venues have VERY large stages or are outdoors where it is harder to monitor yourself onstage without more speakers. A 1x12 cab or combo - even going through the PA - isn't going to cut it for me when on a large outdoor stage.

For that reason, I like to keep small, medium, and large cabs around.

I'd probably just grab a smaller cab, but a nice combo isn't a bad thing to have either. I've got a Walkabout that I use all the time, in addition to a larger rig.

    A 112 may not be enough oomph - I’d checkout a good 212.

If you like your sound, but just need less of it, get a 4 ohm Epifani 210. Take that when you need less volume.

I may have not been clear I'm not going to sell what I have and go small! I had tried coming threw the monitors but I don't get enough of the singers and horns then! I understand about the outdoors gig, and yes I would bring my main rig, but for most of these gigs my amp is just stage volume!

Your current head through one of the "super 12" cabs such as the fEARful 12/6 should be just about perfect for your needs.
