I've seen a couple really cool looking basses posted featuring amboyna burl tops. What quality does amboyna contribute to tone? IME maple tends to be bright and punchy, walnut tends to be deep and smooth, mahogany tends to be somewhere in the middle. Where does amboyna fall on this scale? I may be looking to do something with a fretless 5 in the next few months and I'm trying to formulate tone and appearance ideas. I know I want a warm highly resonant tone. Does amboyna do that or should I be considering padauk or shedua or just stick with walnut? Peace, James
