What does "hot" mean?

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by rabid_granny, Apr 16, 2002.

  1. I was wondering if "hot" also meant "growl"? Or does it mean it has a higher output level?

I wish pickup manufacturers provided sound samples of their pickups.

Hot usually just means high output, perhaps coupled with an offensive midrange, which is not the same as growl (IMO).
