    it makes you louder. thats all it does. dont waste your $$$.

    But that's what amps are for! And you can't exceed your amps power limit...

    ...so what's the purpose in owning one?

    there really is no need for one as a bassist especially.

    It would probably be useful for guitarists who want to boost the signal going to the amp to get more preamp distortion.

    It appears to work on the same principle as the ZVex SHO which is a preamp specifically designed to boost weaker pickups into distortion.

    The guitar world has various craze and one of them is for a 'clean boost'. The idea is that you hit a tube amp with a greater signal and cause it to distort. The device does not have any inherant distort but causes it in the amp. It won't make you louder just make the amp appear to be cranked more than it is.

    So unless you have a hugemongous valve amp and want to overdrive it i n a natural way at lower volumes then take Adrian Garcia's advice.
