Hey, I have only used about 1-2 effects for bass in my life. I'd like to use a few more for myself. I guess if you guys could tell me about the pedals.

    Suggestions on brands and models?

    What these effects do?

    What are they good for?

It depends what you want to do. You gotta be specific. (Or just search the board because there's lots of posts on effects)

For me, It's been compression, noise gate for the most part. SOmetimes some overdrive...
  3. To start out you can try a inexpensive multi-fx to experiment with (Korg AX-1B or Digitech something or other). And get an idea.

After that you'll discover that dedicated individual effects are usually better.

Then you'll develop an ear for the finer aspects of the effects and realize that expensive handmade analog effects are best of all.

Finally after years of fiddling around and lot's of $$$, you'll probably end up with compression, noise gate, some overdrive, and maybe another effect that you actually use sometimes.
