I believe he's using a bit of heavy distortion, some synth stuff, and some envelope filters here and there. Not sure what brand, but since when did brand matter? If I can't tell from the recording, then it ain't worth the headache.

As of '97, he had something like 8 Boss Boss SYB-3 Bass Synth pedals in his chain, all with different settings.

He also used a Sansamp BDDI

Not positive, but I also think he was using SWR amps and Soundgears to help get that ultra scooped sound

99% of his tone is boosted bass, completely cut mids, and boosted highs. And he mics the tweeter.

  6. Definitely cut mids, and boost highs and lows. Your tone won't cut through, but you'll get a lot of thump and grunge.

He doesn't use any effects ... it's all in the hands.

I heard he doesn't use amps either, for that very reason.

KORN would not be so bad if they actually had a decent frontman.

I'm not much into Fieldy's wanna-be gang-banger vibe but I'll give him credit for coming up with his own bass style.

I understand they use 5 mics on his cabs in the studio - several different condensers on the drivers, and a 57 on the horn. Pretty cool, methinks.

I thought his main effect was a Galaxy 5 clicky clacker

I have never had a problem hearing him. Yeah, there are no mids, but you can hear the lows and extreme highs just fine. And with the mud that his guitarists put out, if he used a typical rock tone with a lot of mids, you probably couldn't hear him.

Perhaps if you're deaf you can't hear him. ;)

Exactly, loud and clear to me. Wasn't he the guy that said something to the effect that he had to "fit around the guitars"?
